Store That’s Top Tips To Make More Space This Christmas

It’s a matter of days before Christmas, would you believe? If you’ve found our blog, then it is very likely that you are wondering how you had room to fit 12 around your dining room table this time last year! Maybe amongst the madness of 2020, you braved moving home and don’t know where you’re going to squeeze the tree amongst the chaos?

Although Christmas is going to be a little different this year, it is still the perfect time to start new traditions, get set for the new year and in some cases, prepare for Christmas 2021!

At Store That, we know there’s nothing quite like enjoying the festivities in your own home, so to get you organised for this Christmas period (and next!), take a look at a few of our top space-saving tips.

  1. Declutter

This is top on our list for a good reason! Whether you’ve recently moved or just need to get things straight in your family home, clutter needs to be cleared in order to make room for the festivities. Sometimes, there may be items that you don’t necessarily need to throw away, but would rather store over Christmas to give you that bit of extra room.

Whether it’s large furniture or smaller things like lamps and side tables, our secure self storage in east London can accommodate your storage needs. We have many different facilities available, from drive-up units in E14 to sea container rentals that are easily accessible and available to hire for short or longer term contracts.

The extra room in your home means you will have the perfect space for your tree and maybe a few extra presents!

2. Get Selling

Whilst you’re having a clear out, you’ll definitely find some items that you just don’t use or need anymore. Why not sell them for a few extra pounds and treat yourself to something you need in the sales instead? Sites like ebay regularly offer no fee periods and you can also sell on some social media sites. Making a sale from something you didn’t even know you had, is extremely satisfying!

3. The Right Tree

For one month only, a Christmas tree is every homeowner’s pride and joy! It does look beautiful with all the lights turned on and decorations shimmering away. Maybe you buy a real tree each year or perhaps you opt for a faux one; whatever your preference, take time to consider if your tree is the right one, given the space available.

You don’t want to be squeezing past a giant nordic spruce for the next few weeks because you over-estimated the size of your living room! Remember that a tree which looks relatively normal sized in a DIY store, will be a lot larger in a regular property.

4. Make The Most Of Space You Have

It’s surprisingly easy to save space in order to get the most from the room you have. Even with Christmas a little different this year, it’s always a good idea to invest in some good quality portable furniture. Fold-up chairs, for example, are a great asset because family and friends are always popping in and out at this time of year. Likewise, comfy blow-up mattresses are always extremely handy to have to hand, just in case Aunty Gwen has a little too much sherry on Boxing Day! These items store so easily because they fold flat, taking up no room.

If your home seems to be bursting at the seams - and you’ve not even touched the mince pies yet - think about renting some storage space in E14 on a short term contract. To get organised for Christmas! Contact us or call on 0207 5151 300 for more information.
