Top 4 Packing Tips for Your Storage Space In E14

Here at Store That, we aren’t just experts on storage units, but we also know all the tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your storage space in E14. We thought we would share our knowledge, so you can become a packing pro!

1.     Choosing the right boxes

The first step to your packaging journey is picking your boxes. Ensure you have a wide range of sizes to accommodate for any belongings you might have. Smaller boxes should be used for heavier items such as plates, bowls, cups, and books and DVDs. Larger boxes should be used for your lighter items like clothing, beddings, blankets, and duvets. Don’t economise on cheap, thin-walled boxes which will crumple when stacking.

2.    Taping and labelling

Getting good quality packing tape is the best start to your packaging journey. Some may think you should start with the boxes, but the Store That team argue that without strong and sturdy tape, your boxes will fall apart and so tape is just as important! We suggest to run a full loop of tape around the whole box rather than just cutting it into short strips. This will ensure greater strength of the box when you lift. We sell various strong tapes to assist you.

We would also recommend labelling your boxes once they are sealed.  This will save you having to rummage through any belongings when you want to retrieve items from your storage space in E14.

3.    Don’t overpack

As tempting as it is to fit everything into as little boxes as possible, do not overpack your items. Overpacking can lead to the damage of your belongings and ultimately, you won’t be able to lift your boxes. You should pack with the heaviest things at the bottom and the lightest on top to give your boxes a sturdy base. It is important not to under pack either as items can move during transport, possibly damaging them. Store That can provide loose fill (packing peanuts) that you can use to fill up that extra space to reduce the possibility of damage and bubble wrap to protect the surfaces and corners of your treasured possessions.

4.    Wrapping and condensing

For further protection of your items, you might want to consider using wraps and covers. These are especially helpful for larger items and furniture. You can also use them as dust covers to place over all your items. We offer a wide range of dust covers for your belongings as well as removal/storage blankets. Also, if you’re worried about space within your unit, you can always condense items by dismantling furniture.
