Scariest Things Found in Sea Container Rentals
Halloween is mere days away and here at Store That, we’re getting festive. Our sea container rentals are decked out with Halloween decorations and we’re ready to share some of our favourite storage unit horror stories with you all!
Human Organs
Yes, we’re starting off strong and gory for this blog! This sounds like something from a horror movie, but we promise it’s true. One storage unit in Missouri was found to have over 100 human organs in Tupperware containers. Also found within the unit were several large containers of formaldehyde. The storage unit belonged to a former Medical Examiner who previously worked at the medical examiners officer in Jackson County, Missouri. He had kept the organs for himself after he got fired!
A Locked Coffin
On an episode of Storage Wars in the US, one of the sea container rentals was revealed to home just a single padlocked coffin and nothing else. Speculation and rumour ran wild through the auction, but unfortunately, it was revealed that the coffin housed nothing particularly sinister. The only thing inside was a single suit and an empty urn – how mysterious!
Fake Hands
Now this one is just plain creepy. One storage unit was found stuffed full of fake hands. The contents included a giant hand sculpture, dozens of tiny dolls hands and a fake hand suspended in formaldehyde. Overall, a very weird and spooky unit discovery.
A Dead Body
Before he was on Storage Wars, one regular bidder, Darrell Sheets, found a dead body in one of the storage units he bought. He called the police immediately and was interviewed to determine he wasn’t a suspect. In the end, the police found out that the previous owner had murdered his wife and the stashed her body in the storage unit!
Cremated Remains
In 2014, an unlicensed funeral director was arrested for attempting to scam an elderly couple. He was put under investigation, and this investigation revealed more than police had expected. Hidden within multiple sea container rentals, they discovered he had stored the cremated remains of 40 people and 12 bodies!
Storage Unit Stalker
In 2012, a man was convicted of stalking singer Madonna. He had broken into her home and threatened her. This man was found to be highly psychotic and extremely violent, and even managed to escape his mental hospital to stalk Halle Berry. After his conviction, his storage unit was auctioned off. Inside buyers found a headless doll, a clown mask, butcher knives, a bible, a notebook full of disturbing plans, and a lot of Madonna memorabilia. The unit was described as containing the perfect ‘stalker-killers kit’.
