Moving Out of your self-storage unit - tips
When your new home is all set up and you’re ready to leave us, your house has been renovated and you can finally have that comfortable armchair back safely or you’ve had a massive spring clean and can finally fit all of those pop-vinyl figures in, then it’s time for you to begin the moving out process for self-storage.
Read on for all the necessary details.
Give us the appropriate notice
You’ll need to give us the required 14 days’ notice before you want to vacate the unit. You can do this by coming in-store, sending us an email, writing us a letter or giving us a call - yes, we can take verbal or written notice.
Vacate the unit and leave it in the same condition as when you first moved into it
When you arrive to the facility on move-out day, you should start by clearing the unit of all your items. Unfortunately, you cannot leave any items behind that you don’t want, unless you have the authorisation/agreement to do so by the facility supervisor/manager.
Ensure that you leave the unit clean and empty, as we’ll need to inspect it to make sure that it’s in a good condition; the same as when you first moved into it.
You’ll need to remember to remove the lock and take it with you as it may come in handy for a later date! If you forget to remove the lock, we’ll have to consider it still occupied.
Speak with a member of staff
Now that you’ve finished clearing the unit, and it has been inspected; please visit the office/reception area to speak with a member of our friendly & helpful staff so that they can officially end your contract/Storage License Agreement and have you sign a move-out form.

Changed your mind?
If your new home isn’t big enough for all your old furniture, or you overestimated the amount of space you cleared out in your house and decide that you need to keep the unit, that’s perfectly fine with us. Simply call/email/visit the office to notify us.
Alternatively; you may wish to transfer to a smaller/larger size. Again, simply let us know by calling/emailing/visiting the office and we’ll help you make the necessary arrangements.
We do not charge for transferring between sizes.
