Store That Millwall Discuss the World’s Most Secure Locations

Here at Store That Millwall, we like to ensure your belongings are safe and secure, no matter the circumstances. This got us thinking about some of the extremely secure sites that are located all over the globe, protecting some of the most important people and items.

In today’s blog post we are going to share insight into some of the most secure locations worldwide.

Fort Knox

Ever heard someone say, ‘you’re like Fort Knox!’ when you won’t tell a secret? That’s because Fort Knox is one of the most secure locations in the world. It is famous for being impenetrable. Located in Kentucky in the US, it houses a large percentage of the country’s gold reserves! The entirety of the perimeter is surrounded by land mines and each staff member knows a different combination for a different keypad. This is to prevent staff leaving the company and sharing the codes for all the doors with others. The room that holds the gold (the vault) has a door that is 21 inches thick and weighs over 18 metric tonnes!

The White House

It makes sense that the building housing one of the most important people in America would be incredibly secure. The White House, although protected, also doubles as a tourist location and so, measures need to be in place. Any tours of the building must be requested with at least 21 days’ notice as they require background checks before they can be allowed inside. Outside, to stop people climbing into the gardens, the fence is covered in anti-climb paint and topped with sharp spikes – no one is getting in there!

The Tower of London Jewel House

Time for a location a little closer to Store That Millwall now – the Tower of London, but specifically, the Jewel House! Everyone can visit the Tower all year round, however, it is also home to the crowns and sceptres of Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth and many more. The security of the Jewel House is overseen by a Major General and is monitored via a separate control room to the rest of the tower. This area of the tower has also been granted an additional £4.5 million to ensure fire safety and security are top level.

Area 51

We couldn’t make this list without mentioning the iconic Area 51! Perhaps one of the most famous secure locations, located in the middle of the isolated deserts of Nevada. It is the most secure military base in the world, so much so that no one has any idea what goes on inside. Over the years, this has created many conspiracy theories and rumours about aliens and other mysterious goings on within the facility!
